AIMS AND SCOPE

The aim of the Turkish Journal of Hematology is to publish original hematological research of the highest scientific quality and clinical relevance. Additionally, educational material, reviews on basic developments, editorial short notes, images in hematology, and letters from hematology specialists and clinicians presenting their experiences and comments on hematology and related medical fields as well as social subjects are published.

As of December 2015, the Turkish Journal of Hematology does not accept case reports. Articles consisting solely of computational analyses and meta-analyses without validation with primary biological samples (blood, bone marrow, stem cells) are also not within the scope of this journal.

The Turkish Journal of Hematology is published quarterly (March, June, September, and December) by the Turkish Society of Hematology. It is an independent, non-profit peer-reviewed international English-language periodical encompassing subjects relevant to hematology.

Submissions of manuscripts to the Turkish Journal of Hematology, evaluation of the manuscripts by referees, and all publication stages are completely free of charge.

All publications of the Turkish Journal of Hematology can be accessed free of charge online at www.tjh.com.tr. Thus, it is possible for a wide audience to read your work.

The Editorial Board of the Turkish Journal of Hematology adheres to the principles of the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (CONSORT), and Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (STROBE).

Digital Archiving and Preservation Policy

Digital preservation is a set of processes and activities that ensure the retrieval and distribution of information now available in digital formats to guarantee long-term/perpetual access. The preservation policy includes the following measures:

Website Archiving

All electronic content (website, manuscript, etc.) is stored in three different locations. Content on a server is online and accessible to readers. A copy of the same content is preserved as a backup on other servers. Should a server fail, other resources can be brought online and the website is expected to be available within 24-36 hours.

Abstracting/Indexing Services

The journal’s abstracting/indexing services store essential information about articles. In addition, some of the journals’ abstracting/indexing services archive metadata about the articles and electronic versions of the articles. In this way, copies of articles are presented to the scientific community through these systems as an alternative to the traditional journal format. The journal’s archive has been backed up by PubMed Central as of the 2012 publications.

Cessation of Publication

If this journal must stop publishing, the articles will remain online and accessible to readers through third parties and archiving processes such as those described above. Content can be accessed through PORTICO when required under certain circumstances, such as if collection is stopped.

Abstract and Citation Information

Authors may reuse the abstract and citation information (e.g. title, author name, publication dates) of their articles anywhere at any time, including social media such as Facebook, blogs, and Twitter, provided that a link back to the article on the Turkish Journal of Hematology website is included whenever possible.

Accepted Manuscript

An “accepted manuscript” is the final draft of an author’s manuscript, as accepted for publication by a journal, including modifications based on referees’ suggestions, before it has undergone copyediting, typesetting, and proof correction. Authors of open access articles are free to post and share their links anywhere immediately upon publication.

Subscription Information

The Turkish Journal of Hematology is distributed free of charge to members of the Turkish Society of Hematology and libraries in Türkiye and abroad. Hematologists, other medical specialists that are interested in hematology, and academics could subscribe for $40 per published issue. All published issues of the journal are available in full text free of charge online at www.tjh.com.tr.

Open Access Policy

The Turkish Journal of Hematology provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. Authors are responsible for the manuscripts they publish in the Turkish Journal of Hematology. The editor, editorial board, and publisher do not accept any responsibility for published manuscripts.

If authors use a table or figure (or some data from a table or figure) from another source, the source must be cited directly in the figure or table legend.

Editorial Policy

Following receipt of each manuscript, a checklist is completed by the Editorial Assistant. The Editorial Assistant checks that each manuscript contains all required components and adheres to the author guidelines, after which the manuscript is forwarded to the Editor-in-Chief. Following the Editor-in-Chief’s evaluation, manuscripts considered suitable for peer review are forwarded to an Associate Editor with appropriate expertise in the relevant subject area. The Associate Editor coordinates the scientific evaluation of the manuscript. Original research articles are assigned to at least three independent external expert reviewers, while other manuscript types are assigned to at least two independent external expert reviewers. Following completion of the peer review process, the Associate Editor evaluates the reviewers’ reports and submits an editorial recommendation to the Editor-in-Chief. Except where the Editor-in-Chief has a relevant conflict of interest, the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection rests with the Editor-in-Chief.

The Turkish Journal of Hematology’s Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board members are active researchers and may submit manuscripts to the Turkish Journal of Hematology. If the Editor-in-Chief, an Associate Editor, or another Editorial Board member is an author of a submitted manuscript or has a relevant conflict of interest, that individual is completely excluded from the editorial evaluation and decision-making process for that manuscript. In such cases, the manuscript is assigned to an independent editor with appropriate expertise and no relevant conflict of interest, and the peer review and editorial decision-making processes are conducted independently of the individual concerned.

Advertising Policy

The Turkish Journal of Hematology is the official journal of the Turkish Society of Hematology, which is the financial supporter of the journal.

Advertising fees are transferred to the Turkish Society of Hematology, which are used for publishing expenses of the journal.

This journal’s advertising sales and editorial processes are separated to ensure editorial independence and reduce the effects of financial interests.

Current or potential sponsors and advertisers do not affect editorial decisions of the journal. Advertisers and sponsors have no control or influence over the results of a user’s website searches.

Advertisements should not be deceptive or misleading and must be verifiable. Excessive or exaggerated claims are not allowed.

If the text or image contains inappropriate or offensive content or involves personal, racial, ethnic, sexual orientation, or religious content, the advertisement will not be accepted.

Advertisers are responsible for ensuring that their advertisements comply with applicable laws regarding deceptive and/or offensive content and ethical issues.

Drug and medical product advertisements can be presented on the cover pages of the journal, separately from the published scientific content and without page numbers.

The published advertisements are direct and clearly distinguishable from the editorial content.
